Wintery Wanders

Well its been absolutely freezing!

Dartmoor has still continued to beckon us for walkies every day, but the weather has really got to get its act together soon, I'm not sure how much more I can take!

The wind bites at my hands and feet every time I go out to the point that its almost painful. Someone definately needs to invent heated walking boots!

Its a really good job its only me that hates the cold. The dogs couldn't care less.

Here are a few pictures of them all, taken over the last week.

Believe it or not, this was Peggy after I groomed her just 4 days ago.

Shes beautiful one moment, and a sludge covered mess the next 😂 still, at least she is having fun!

Lecker Bites

We were recently asked to become brand ambassadors for Lecker Bites!

Lecker Bites are a fantastic freeze dried raw food company and their ethos is provide high quality raw food and treats that are nutritionally rich.

As many of you know I am an avid raw feeder and have been for over 15 years. I honestly believe that this is the best way to feed our beloved pets.
NO colourings, NO preservatives, NOTHING extruded and absolutely ZERO E numbers!
I believe that feeding my dogs a 100% raw meat diet is species appropriate and this is something that the Marcasite Poodles gang have a lot of pride in!

All of my puppies are weaned onto raw food and I am always happy to provide ongoing support if needed. I even run a small Facebook forum for raw feeding - Raw Fed Poodles UK.

Unfortunately, however the concept of raw feeding sometimes falls down when it comes to treats or training snacks. It isn't really possible for hygiene reasons, to carry a bag of raw mince around in my pocket when we go to the Moors for a walk or to training classes. Its also incredibly difficult to travel with raw fed dogs as the food can be difficult to store and spoil very quickly.

This is where Lecker Bites come in!
Lecker Bites produce a high quality raw food, which is nutritionally just as good as raw but has the added convenience of being dry, which makes it perfect for complete meals, treats and more! It really is the perfect combination and I am incredibly proud to be a brand ambassador for a product that I wholeheartedly believe in.
(I would have no qualms whatsoever in turning down a brand ambassador request for a poor quality dog food company!)

Marcasite Poodles can offer an exclusive 10% off all orders from Lecker Bites. You simply have to use the code: MARCASITE10 when placing your order.

You can join their mailing list Here and win freebies.

And for £5 off a £20 or more shop, follow this link: Lecker Bites

I am absolutely certain that you will love Lecker Bites just as much as we do.

Here is a photographs of their products.

Our personal favourite are the chicken herb cubes. They contain 96% chicken and are fantastic for arthritic dogs like Stanley as the only other ingredients are natural anti-inflammatories such as Devil's Claw and nettle leaves.

As you can see Lecker Bites get the girls' approval. Peggy thinks that they are so good she cannot believe her eyes!

Beach Days!

Well the Dartmoor mud has been really getting us down, so today we ventured to our nearest beach (10 miles away) for a wander.

It is hard to believe that whilst the rest of the country has snow and ice, we have sunshine and beautiful blue skies.

Anyway, we had a fantastic time.

The girls enjoyed playing with a ball and chasing, and Stanley enjoyed digging holes and growling into them - he only ever does this at the beach and it is hillarious!

Here are some pictures of the dogs enjoying their beach day. You will see that Edna is pulling the same silly face in almost every picture, she does so love the beach!

A Sleepover with Bea

Bea (previously known as Thumbelina) is my favourite little girl from our last litter. I formed an incredibly close attachment to this little pup and fully intended to keep her, but when her perfect family came along I just knew that she belonged with them.

Bea now lives about 40 minutes away and I see her often. She has her own little boy, who likes to read Harry Potter books to her and goes on long walks in the woodland, just a stones throw from her door. Bea is maturing into a beautiful pup and has a wonderful kind temprament and is very calm.

She came for a couple of nights sleep over because her pawrents sadly had to attend a funeral some miles away.

Whilst they were away, we had a wonderful time. She walked into the house like she had never left and the girls knew who she was instantly. Big sister Peggy never left her side and the two were thick as thieves, sharing bones and chasing up and down the stairs together. Edna took on the role of a teacher and gave her lovely cuddles and shared toys, but would gently tell her off if things got too rough.

We had some fantastic walks on the Moors whilst Bea was here. She didn't bother with the rain one bit and showed no interest in the livestock on the Moors either.

Here are some pictures:

I also groomed Bea whilst she stayed with me. She was such a dream to groom! This is Bea when she arrived 😂 I actually love the fuzzy puppy look, but equally I love seeing her beautiful face.

Bea's Mum has recently invested in some grooming kit and I have gifted her a few bits also. Once lockdown is lifted I plan to go over and give her a few grooming lessons.

We actually have lots of plans for this little pup; I am hoping to attend some of the same training seminars that her Mum wants to go on and we have beach walks planned and lots of days out with things to sniff and dogs to chase.
I'd also love to see this little girl in the ring. I think her human brother would love junior handling or perhaps some kind of obedience, but lockdown is preventing all 😭
Fingers crossed that it is all lifted soon!

Anyway, enough of the lockdown negativity. Bea, myself and the doggos had a whale of a time whilst she stayed with us and her Mum has promised us more sleep overs soon. I am so grateful that I am still able to be a part of this little lady's life!

Bea may well have a litter with us (subject to health testing etc) when she is old enough, although nothing is set in stone right now.
