Its Been Manic!

Firstly, my apologies for the radio silence over the last few weeks. Things have been manic!

The puppies all left to go to their new homes and then I ended up with COVID!

Normality has just about resumed in the Marcasite household now though. (Although my never ending home renovations are somewhat disruptive!)

Floyd, Otis, Thumbelina, Blu, Jackson, Pola, Alma, Rex, Vincent, Eddison, Hugo, Violet and Reggie have all settled into their new homes brilliantly and are now 12 weeks old. I get wonderful updates from their owners and lots of photos and videos which I am very grateful for. It is a joy to see the puppies growing and enjoying new adventures.

This video of Eddison doing some clicker training really made me smile.

Little Thumbelina has stayed locally, which is just perfect as we get to visit her often and help with her grooming.

Here are a few pictures of her with her human and Peggy from our recent walk. You'll notice that shes a face puller just like her sister. She is wild and so much fun! 😂

And to my absolute delight our daily Dartmoor walks have resumed!

We are also busy planning Peggy's future litter for this coming Spring and have already started to build a wait list. I have a VERY exciting pairing planned and if it is successful will be keeping a puppy myself, so watch this space!

For now I will just continue to enjoy Dartmoor and having a very quiet household!

7 Weeks Old!

Well I don't quite know how it happened but my babies are now 7 weeks old and almost ready to go to their new homes and start their new lives.

I am both incredibly excited for them and their families and yet, a little sad for myself.

I really have put my heart and soul into this litter. It has been incredibly hard work, but so very worth it. Each of these little babies owns a piece of my heart and I know that they will go out into the world and make me very proud ❤

Now that they are bigger, I can confidently say that we have 3 silver and 10 blue puppies. All are very healthy and bold little characters and all have an incredibly low inbreeding coi%
And whilst it is the silvers that own my heart, it was my goal with this litter to improve on the diversity in the breed that I love rather than focus on colour alone and I am so glad that I did.
These babies are stunning.
There are many breeders who will only ever breed silver to silver. Over many generations this creates a genetic bottle neck and can prove unhealthy in the long run. I will always favour diversity and health over colour.
My aim is, in my own little way to help secure the future of the breed that I love.

The journey of my second litter has been life changing and I am so very grateful.

Edna will be neutered in spring as I feel that 2 litters is more than enough for any dog.

Peggy will hopefully have a litter in summer 2021 and the second generation of Marcasite Poodles will be born.

Where has the time gone?

The puppies are now 6 weeks old and getting rapidly louder and poopier by the day 🤣

My days pass in a blur of cleaning, washing, mopping and grooming. Good job I enjoy all of those things, or I'd have been committed by now LOL

In a weeks time all of the pups and Edna will go to visit our wonderful vet, Mr McWhirter for health checks and microchipping, prior to them leaving for their new homes. I can't believe that this is happening already! Time really has moved so fast!

All but one puppy have lovely homes waiting for them and the one remaining girl has a video call with a family tomorrow. They seem very prepared for a puppy so fingers crossed that they will love her just as much as I do.

I am off work this week so have been able to find the time to groom both Edna and Peggy, so they are both looking, smelling and hopefully feeling, fantastic.

I even managed to find the time to take Peggy on a training walk to the local aquarium at the garden centre, which she just loved.

I have not been able to get as many photographs of the puppies as I would usually due to time constraints but intend to do some portrait style images over the coming days and will share them here. There are however, plenty of videos in my private puppy owner's Facebook group for all of their families to see.
