Well I don't quite know how it happened but my babies are now 7 weeks old and almost ready to go to their new homes and start their new lives.
I am both incredibly excited for them and their families and yet, a little sad for myself.
I really have put my heart and soul into this litter. It has been incredibly hard work, but so very worth it. Each of these little babies owns a piece of my heart and I know that they will go out into the world and make me very proud ❤
Now that they are bigger, I can confidently say that we have 3 silver and 10 blue puppies. All are very healthy and bold little characters and all have an incredibly low inbreeding coi%
And whilst it is the silvers that own my heart, it was my goal with this litter to improve on the diversity in the breed that I love rather than focus on colour alone and I am so glad that I did.
These babies are stunning.
There are many breeders who will only ever breed silver to silver. Over many generations this creates a genetic bottle neck and can prove unhealthy in the long run. I will always favour diversity and health over colour.
My aim is, in my own little way to help secure the future of the breed that I love.
The journey of my second litter has been life changing and I am so very grateful.
Edna will be neutered in spring as I feel that 2 litters is more than enough for any dog.
Peggy will hopefully have a litter in summer 2021 and the second generation of Marcasite Poodles will be born.
